Do you have advice on Cruising Excursions in Hawaii or the Spirit of America cruise ship?

We’ve scheduled a Hawaiian cruise on the Spirit of America, and may want to schedule our own land excursions. I am told they will pick you up at the dock and return you to the ship.

Are you familiar with Hawaiian tourism, esp. cruising? If you are, what suggestions would you have? What’s the best way to save money on excursions or other things to do while in port? Is there perhaps an agency over there that can book adventures & excursions for us?

What excursions have you done and enjoyed the most? We’re a retired couple, so hiking the Na Pali coast is probably out, but we’re open to any suggestions.

Also, if you have sailed on the Spirit of America, we’d appreciate any advice about the ship, ports of call, or cruising in general. This is "free-style" cruising, and anything you could tell us about that would also be appreciated.

On a one day trip, what’s the best thing to visit in Kona, Hawaii?

I’m going to Kona for only 1 day. What should I see?

Of course the volcano, but if you are in Kona for one day only, the volcano is too far. so i would recommend you to go to Kealakekua Bay (it is a great place for snorkeling or picnic).

where is the best spot to surf in hawaii?

Lahaina, Maui is ok the waves r pretty small like3-5 ft. pretty good to learn on.

Bus route from Ewa, Beach Hawaii to Iolani School?

I understand there is a transfer along the way. I was planning to start at the bus stop across from Hawaii Medical Center West/ Fort Weaver/ Laulaunui. And after I know that i would get off around the State Capitol stop across from the State Library. So I was wondering which routes that I would take and the different combinations that i could take. Apparently I need to be at school by 7:30 A.M. so it would be best if i got out there earlier. Thanks in advance

If you go to www.thebus.org and fill in the blanks in the Google Transit section (top, middle-ish of the page) and fill in the time you need to arrive at your destination, it’ll send you to a page that lists the different bus options you have.

For example, by typing in Laulauni & Fort Weaver Rd, Ewa Beach, HI as the start address and Iolani School as the destination, and changing the time displayed to 7:30 am and making that the arrival time, I’m given three different options:
1. 6:15 am catch #101, transfer to #3 at about 7:00, then walk to your destination.
2. Same as option one, but transfer to #9 instead of #3, then walk to your destination.
3. 6:00 am catch the #91 express, transfer to #3 at 6:56, then walk to your destination.

It’s really easy to do and I use it all the time to figure out what bus to catch, when and where. It’s great!

Deciding on picking one of the resorts in Hawaii?

Hi, I have to reserve a condo one of the 4 resorts that we have in timeshare, I would like to know which one that has the best place for attractions and activities, good priced stuff ect ect..

things to do in maui/hawaii/kona? help!!?

what are good places to see/do stuff in Maui, Kona, or Hawaii? and things like FAMILY stuff . we don’t want to
go on hikes, what are good beaches? and which beaches
have lots and lots and shells?

You might want to investigate the guide books this place puts out. I recommend them to all that ask which guidebook is the best. Well written guidebooks that cover Oahu or Maui or Hawaii (Big Island). Very candid, honest and well liked by those who used them.

You can find them at Barnes and Noble and similar chains. Worth the $$$
