how big are the waves, and what are the best surf beaches around there?

Makaha beach is world famous for the huge winter waves in winter. Miles beyond is Yokohama Bay. If I remember, waves can be 10-20 feet outside. Not a play thing in winter.

Because some people live in very cold places or completely dry and hot.

Has anyone stayed at the …
Continental Surf Hotel?
2426 KUHIO AVE Honolulu, HI 96815
My sister is planning her wedding out in Oahu, Hawaii so im looking for inexpensive hotels all we care about it a clean hotel with basic essentials.

I stayed here in 2005 and the staff was not very friendly, the rooms were very small. We had no washcloths in our room and asked the girl at the counter about them and she said they do not provide. She didn’t speak very good english so we weren’t sure if she even understood what we were asking. The parking there is also a nightmare. The room was not very clean either very run down. We stayed here 2 nights them moved to Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel. The hotel was excellent. Just remember you get what you pay for.
Check out the Shore Bird Bar for lunch or dinner.

i’ve been surfing for a few years. Usually go out to chuns reef but i want something super mellow to teach at. Preferably on the East side of Oahu. Know of any spots? Solid mellow waves for longboarders just to cruiseeee =]

go to rockpiles or inbetweens at ala moana

dont go to bowls to teach

but rockpiles or inbetweens would be good to teach at

i taught there earlier this summer.

January is the peak season for waves. The waves are really huge and not surfable for beginners. all sides of the island are good for surfing. i can get really choppy depending on the wind but its not really ever glassy like california
