I am wondering because I am reading something in which it speaks of using funds for a statewide tourism in Iowa and hawaii. Is it basically, touring a certain state to provide a campaign or statement to a particular group of people?

I guess I’m not sure about the context of this question, but I can try.

Statewide tourism in the marketing sense is advertising all of the tourism worthy aspects of a state. So, an ad for Iowa would feature things to do and see in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, the bridges of Madison County, etc. That marketing is paid for by the state, and it is intended to raise revenue.

However, if you are talking about it in a travel context, some people do visit entire states. For instance, my parents traveled to all different portions of the state of Iowa one summer to see areas they’d never seen before. They drove scenic routes with no real plan. They just drove and saw great little towns and beautiful scenery. I can’t wait to do it myself being from Iowa and not having seen a lot of the state itself.

I hope that helps.

we joined 2 local guys(matt and chris) that took us to the jungle of maui, hiking some gnarly trails
made by hippies which are not on the maps, till we got the river that ends on the ocean. and also we walked back on the river to find the waterfalls. that was so pretty!!!

I know that the salary would depend on what kind of work you go into, but what is the average salary?

Yes, easily…and you do not necessarily need hospitality schooling though of course it would help and promotions would come faster. There are plenty of jobs available, you really just need to be well-spoken, professional, gracious and confident. You should also realize that the cost of living in Hawaii is significantly higher than in the other states.

I want to move there by next year, but every website I find is about tourism, I want some about actually living there.

This one is for the Big Island:

Click on the "moving to the big island" forum links. Written by those of us who have been there done that. (Maybe I should say, live here, done that?)
Q & A basically buts lots of other info as well.
Don’t know about the other islands but this will give you a starting point.

The Oahu Visitor Bureau recently sent a delegation of people from the various industries related to tourism to Japan to promote Hawaii products and travel. In places like Fukuoka, all things Hawaii are very popular. There are far more people practicing hula in Japan than in all of Hawaii. We were told that in the city of Fukuoka alone, there are over 10,000 hula dancers. There are many Hawaii related festivals throughout Japan every year. The state of Hawaii is trying to attract Japanese travelers back to Hawaii as numbers have slipped in recent years.

Americans (from all the countinent) visit more often LA NY or Florida and people from Europe (here) likes NY better because Florida is like Latin America and LA is far which means more money, Hawaii is just too far for us plus we have the canary islands!

An old Parkour buddy of mine, Will St. John, visits honolulu and gets a sample of the local scene.

There are residents of Hawaii who claim to want independence from the U.S., however, from my experience the majority is very happy to be one of the states.
I believe Hawaii gets most of its tourists from outside the U.S. so I don’t see how it would make any difference if they were or were not a state.

My fiance and I are planning to wed in Hawaii!

I have always wanted to get married in the fall- September or October. Per my research, they both seem to be fairly good weather months and low tourism which should mean good rates. However- these months are also during hurricane season and though it has been a while since Hawaii has endured a hurricane- I can’t help but worry about that.
My second choice is May…non-hurricane season, also good rates and weather.

Which month would be the best time to visit???

Kauai is the only island that is hurricane-prone but it does happen about once a decade or so (we are overdue). May is a great time as well, and a good time for Kauai. Early in May should get you great deals on hotels and other expenses.

i have to do research and presentation on state that offer best tourism site.i’m from asia.my lecturer prefer the state that not so widely known for tourism globally.she even banned some state like new york, vegas, california, hawaii.we have to choose one state and highlight about three and above tourism site there.hopefully you can give me any suggestion.
