We were about to book a trip to Oahu when we were invited to vacation in Myrtle Beach with my husband’s family (great people!) instead. We were both pretty set on Hawaii, but seeing family is always good (we only see them every few years). What is there to do in Myrtle Beach? Help convince us this is where we should go with our 2 kiddos (4years and 1yo)
Hawaii isn’t going anywhere, it will still be there next time. Flying there with 2 little kids would be a nightmare. The kids won’t be able to tell the difference. Family need to see the kids. The more people who care about your kids, the better their vacation will be. Always someone to play with.

Every hotel I’ve looked into for vacationing looks like it was built in the early 1960’s.
Outrigger has really nice hotels on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island of Hawaii that are all modern, current, beautiful and a great value. Most are on the beach, some offer free breakfast/shuttle – golf, tennis, spas and all have really great dining
Also recommend Hilton Hawaiian Village on Oahu or Hilton Waikaloa Village on the Big Island
There are so many more, it really comes down to which island and your budget. Let me know if you need more help, I’m a certified travel agent =)

We are going to Hawaii for Christmas. Some friends there would like for us to bring a little Florida beach sand to her, approximately 5 lbs. Will the TSA allow this to go in the luggage underneath?
I have brought sand home a couple of times and haven’t had problems. I haven’t brought 5pounds but as long as you put it in your checked luggage(underneath), I don’t think they will have a problem.
Just try it, it’s sand so you didn’t spend any money on it if you have to throw it away ![]()
Have fun!!~~~~~~~~~~
We walked a mile through Hawaii’s backwoods to get to this private beach my father in law knew of.

What good is being stationed in a army post like Hawaii if you can’t go to the beach right? But no where I’ve read says how close it is to the post or if it’s even a possibility..
North Shore is about 20 minutes away, Ewa Beach about 20 minutes away, Pearl Harbor/Hickam (Hickam has 2 beaches you can go to) is about 25 minutes away, Kaneohe Bay is about 35 minutes away, downtown Waikiki is about 45 minutes away. There is other spots around the island that you can go to the beach at without a problem, except for traffic at times.
Ive been told Waikiki beach is rocky is this true? If it is what other beaches have no rocks or hazards? Also is there a hurricane season in Hawaii??
Hurricane Season in Hawaii is from beginning June til end of November. I wouldn’t give to much thought to that though.
As far as Waikiki being rocky, it is…(in the water not the actual beach)Solution: Water/Reef shoes…you can find them at some ABC stores(on every corner in Waikiki) and in most Hotel Shoppes (we bought ours in one of our Hotel Shoppes in the Outrigger Waikiki…around $20.00 a pair…I’m sure you can find them cheaper elsewhere) you’re not going to find completely Rockless Beaches, but here are a couple sites to check out…
I am planning on getting married there in June of 2011. I know it’s a while away but I want to start planning now. I’d like to stay in a nice hotel that is nicely decorated and modern. I don’t want anything old and run-down since this will be my honeymoon. I’m looking for something that is up to $400 a night and that is right on the water.
You might be thinking of staying on Waikiki beach, but I must put my two cents in. My husband and I just spent our honeymoon in hawaii and we stayed at Turtle Bay Resort on north shore and it was amazing!!!!! It is on a HUsacluded of property with horseback riding, snorkling, beautiful hiking trails, helicopter rides and it is only an hour dive away from Waikiki but you will be driving everywhere anyway. Yeah it is an hour drive, but with the views TRUST ME you will not mind. I just did something on expidia and for an 8 day stay, round trip flight, and a car rental it came out to be $3,415.10 which is $1,707.55 a person. That is pretty amazing! http://www.turtlebayresort.com you should look into it. Man I sound like I’m trying advertise this place, but believe me it was amazing and romantic! You should def look into it because it was well worth it.
